Concept

DELT·A is a landscape urbanism studio focused on designing ecologies, landscapes and territories.
DELT·A is a landscape urbanism studio specializing in the design and planning of ecologies, landscapes, and territories. With a focus on performative and resilient design and planning, we provide ecological urbanism, landscape planning and design services, emphasizing climate resilience, adaptive solutions, water sensitive design and landscape-led planning. Our work spans from large-scale urban transformations to small-scale interventions, always guided by a commitment to ecological design and sustainable futures.

Strategies

At DELT·A, we shape landscapes as resilient, adaptive systems that respond to climate, ecology, and community needs. Our strategies combine landscape-led planning, water-sensitive design, and climate resilience and adaptation to create environments that perform ecologically, support culture, and thrive over time.

Climate Resilience & Adaptation

We develop strategies that strengthen landscapes against climate change impacts such as flooding, heat, and ecosystem shifts. By embedding resilience into the design process, we help cities and territories adapt to evolving risks, ensuring environmental performance and long-term functionality under changing conditions.

Ecosystem Integration

We implement nature-based solutions that restore, protect, and integrate ecosystems into urban and regional settings. Our designs leverage the inherent capacity of natural systems to manage water, regulate climate, and support biodiversity—delivering multifunctional landscapes that promote ecological health and environmental justice.

Water-Sensitive Design

We apply water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) principles to create landscapes that manage, retain, and reuse water. Through systems like sub-irrigated planting and permeable surfaces, we transform stormwater into a valuable resource while mitigating flood risk and enhancing the performance of public spaces.

Landscape-Led Planning

Our planning approach is rooted in the landscape itself—using topography, hydrology, and ecology to guide development. We analyse environmental assets and constraints to define land suitability, ecological structures, and green infrastructure networks that shape resilient and adaptive territorial frameworks.

Public Realm Design

We design inclusive, bio-diverse public spaces that invite social interaction and ecological performance. Our approach emphasizes comfort, permeability, and seasonal activation—creating public realms that are both functional and vibrant, adaptable to evolving urban needs and connected to natural systems.

Performative Landscape

We ensure long-term environmental performance by prioritizing low-impact materials, native planting, and passive climate strategies. Our designs focus on lifecycle thinking and ecological function, resulting in landscapes that are efficient to maintain, resilient over time, and beneficial for both people and the planet.

Social & Cultural Integration

We design spaces that reflect local identity, encourage community use, and support cultural continuity. Through engagement, programming, and sensitivity to local behavioural patterns, our projects foster inclusive environments where people feel represented, connected, and empowered in the shared public realm.

Landscape Enhancement

We create strategies that restore, connect, and enhance landscapes as living systems that support both ecology and society. By strengthening natural assets and integrating them into urban and regional frameworks, our projects foster healthier environments and more resilient territories.
